In a faraway land called Moab, there lived a kind woman named Naomi. Lately, her home had been very quiet.
Naomi missed her family very much. She had lost her husband and her two sons. Her heart felt heavy and lonely.
But Naomi was not alone. Ruth, her daughter-in-law, brought her bread every morning. 'Mother Naomi,' Ruth said softly, 'I made this for you.'
They sat together and shared their simple meal. Ruth held Naomi's hand. 'I love you, Mother Naomi.'
One morning, Naomi heard wonderful news. Far away, in her old home of Bethlehem, the harvest was good again. There was bread for everyone!
Naomi told Ruth, 'I must go back home to Bethlehem. But you, dear Ruth, you should stay here with your family in Moab.'
'You are still young, sweet Ruth. Find a new family. Find new joy. I must travel alone.'

But Ruth shook her head and held Naomi tighter. 'Please don't ask me to leave you,' she said.
'Where you go, I will go. Your home will be my home. Your family will be my family,' Ruth said softly.
Naomi cried happy tears. She hugged Ruth tight. 'Then we will go together. We will not be alone.'
Together they packed a small bundle for their long trip. They didn't have much, but they had each other.
And so, they began their journey. Hand in hand, they left their old life behind.

The road to Bethlehem was very long. Up hills and down valleys, they walked and walked.
When Naomi grew tired, Ruth helped her walk. 'Lean on me, Mother,' Ruth said with a smile.
When they were hungry, they shared what little bread they had. Ruth always gave Naomi the bigger piece.
At night, they looked up at the stars together. 'They twinkle just like back home,' Naomi whispered.
Then one morning, Ruth saw it. 'Naomi, look! Bethlehem!' she cried. They had finally made it.
They walked through the village gate at last. Naomi looked at her old home with tears in her eyes.

Naomi's old little house was waiting for her. It was small and dusty, but it was home.
Together they unpacked. Ruth lit a small oil lamp. The little home glowed warm and friendly again.
But the cupboard was empty. They had no food left. Ruth looked at Naomi. 'I will find a way,' she promised.
Early the next morning, Ruth set off to the fields. She would gather grain for them to eat, even just the leftovers.
Ruth came to a beautiful field. The barley waved like golden waves. She had never seen so much grain!
Ruth picked up the barley stalks the workers had dropped. This was called gleaning. It was hard work, but she did it gladly.

Just then, the kind owner of the field arrived. His name was Boaz. He always smiled at his workers.
Boaz saw Ruth working hard. 'Who is that kind young woman?' he asked his workers.
His workers told him, 'That is Ruth. She came all the way from Moab to help her mother-in-law Naomi.'
Boaz walked up to Ruth. 'Stay here in my fields,' he said kindly. 'You will be safe here.'
'Drink from our water. Take all the grain you need. I have heard about your great kindness,' Boaz said.
Then Boaz told his workers, 'Leave extra barley on the ground for Ruth. Make sure she always has plenty.'

By evening, Ruth's basket was full. She had more barley than she had ever hoped for!
Ruth hurried home with her treasure. Tonight, she and Naomi would have a wonderful supper.
When Ruth got home, Naomi gasped. 'Where did all this come from?' Ruth told her about the kind man Boaz.
Naomi smiled the biggest smile Ruth had ever seen. 'Boaz is family,' she said softly. 'God is taking care of us.'
Day after day, Ruth gathered grain in Boaz's fields. Day after day, Boaz watched her with growing love.

And so, Ruth and Boaz were married. They smiled at each other under the bright blue Bethlehem sky.
Naomi moved in with Ruth and Boaz. They were a family now. Their little home was full of love.
And then one day, a beautiful little baby boy was born. Ruth held him close. Naomi cried happy tears.
Naomi held her tiny grandson and remembered that quiet sad morning long ago. Now her heart was full again.
Ruth had stayed with Naomi when no one asked her to. And because of her loving heart, they all found a home full of joy.
